Educational Outreach: A Bridge to the Natural World

Educational programming and materials developed by the Arkansas Natural Heritage Commission (ANHC) serve as a bridge between the public and the comprehensive data on rare plants, animals, and natural communities the agency maintains. Our educational resources are designed to make the technical data interesting and easy to understand.

Our goal is to provide an introduction to the natural treasures that are the heritage of every citizen in Arkansas. Understanding leads to care and concern. Concerned citizens with first-hand knowledge are better equipped to make wise decisions for the future.

Lesson plans and activity guides include correlations to Arkansas Science Curriculum Frameworks and resource lists for additional information. Outreach resources are listed below:

Students and teachers are important participants in our citizen science surveys. Each of the surveys contains a variety of information about the survey subject, specific to its Arkansas habitats. We encourage you to take part in the current survey and make use of the handouts, worksheets, and other materials available for download.

We invite educator feedback on the effectiveness of our outreach materials. Please email arkansas@naturalheritage.org or call 501.324.9619
